Predicting high school games is a difficult proposition. I thought heading into tonight’s Carroll-Northwest game that Northwest’s defense would stop that Eagles offense. I thought Conway Springs’ defense and offense would edge Garden Plain. I didn’t think South could beat East.

I was wrong on all three games. That’s just the way it goes.

Bishop Carroll stuffed Northwest’s offense and comes out with a big win, while Garden Plains win in overtime at Conway Springs, Class 3A’s top-ranked team. South beat East by one. Good wins by all.

In other games, Mulvane coach Dave Fennewald won his 100th game with the Wildcats’ victory over Augusta, Heights handled Great Bend, Clearwater beats Maize South, Rose Hill struggles with Pratt, Hutchinson cruises to a win over Salina Central and Salina South edges Newton.

Good night. Where were you? Who impressed you? Who surprised you?

Below is video of Garden Plain.

Was at Hutch/ Salina Central tonight. Hutch is starting to roll. Offense looked balanced and D controlled the Mustangs. Scoreboard doesn’t tell the story of this game. Hutch starters came out in 3rd Q. SC scored last 21 points in the 4th against JV and 3rd string. JV ran clock manage and between the tackles the whole 4th Q.

just got to give a shout-out to the Cats, who took it to the Caines today! Whoah nelly…what a win! Buco has to be proud, along with Arthur Brown.

Yep…the “U” took the “Death Penalty” whether they liked it or not. Getting beat at home by the Wildcats on National T.V…kind of befitting of them, since the NCAA was to chicken to do anything.
