8:15 Newton (8-1, third in 5A) vs. Bishop Carroll (6-3, winners of 5 straight) Newton playing without a sick Emily Hiebert. Carroll playing without Jordyn Miller, who is out for the season with a broken finger.

Newton leads 24-17 at the half.

Kapaun 64, Goddard 30 — Kapaun dominated this game from the start, forcing 7 first-quarter turnovers, committing just one, and shooting 8 of 15 from the floor.

Kapaun coach Marvin Estes used his bench liberally, playing 12 players pretty evenly. Goddard shot extremely well from three, hitting 6 of 12, including three by Brianna Fuchs.

Kapaun only committed 8 turnovers, 2 in the first half.

Goddard  4 10 13 3 — 30

Olathe Northwest 61, Andover Central 39

Olathe Northwest, whose losses are to teams from Minnesota and Missouri and St. Thomas Aquinas, was the superior team here. So quick defensively, forcing 16 turnovers and shooting 25 of 54 from the floor.

The key, though, was rebounding. Olathe Northwest had a 24-9 edge at the half, 38-23 by the end of the game. Michaela Crall, who’s headed to Wisconsin, had 8 points, 7 rebounds and four blocked shots. Kelsey Brooks, who’s headed to Arkansas, had 20 points, 9 rebounds and four steals. Jaylah Jackson, who is going to South Dakota, had six points in about two quarters of play (she’s sick).

Andover Central always has tough inside players and defenders, no matter their size. But coach Stana Jefferson was less than pleased with both aspects tonight.

Andover Central got behind by 12 in the first quarter, and Skyler Snodgrass (14 points) was really the only offensive option.
