I’m filling in for Joanna Chadwick this week while she’s away, but I’ll try to keep things business as usual until she comes back next Monday.
The big story this week is No. 1 Kapaun Mount Carmel vs. No. 2 Bishop Carroll at Cessna Stadium — a battle between the top two teams in Class 5A. Carroll took a drop in the rankings after struggling to beat Northwest last week — but does that mean blood in the water? Hardly. I don’t think you can make a clear gauge using the “common opponent” theory — Kapaun beat Northwest 26-6 in the season opener — not just in football but in any sport. I’m interested to see how many people come out to this game. I’ll be covering it for The Eagle and VarsityKansas.com
We’ve got City League golf and regional this week, also, along with regional tennis and a little bit of soccer and cross country. District assignments come out on Wednesday. What else?
